MUSIC / DJ

With nearly three decades behind the decks, DJ Lechter has built his reputation around one simple idea: changing people’s nights one song at a time. His fascination with club culture began as a teenager, sneaking into clubs and discovering how much influence the person behind the decks could have over an entire room. The DJ didn’t just choose the music — they set the mood, shaped the energy, and ultimately helped determine where the night would take everyone. It was an experience that inspired Lechter to eventually step behind the decks himself.
Musically, DJ Lechter lives primarily in the darker corners of Goth, Industrial and EBM, occasionally wandering into old-school punk and ska. His sets bridge generations of alternative music, weaving together the guitar-driven, organic industrial sounds of artists such as Ministry and Pigface with newer, more synthetic electronic sounds. A dedicated music hunter, Lechter has spent years digging through new releases in search of tracks his audience might not have heard before, creating sets that appeal to longtime devotees of the scene while still introducing them to something new.
A longtime fixture in Atlanta’s alternative nightlife, DJ Lechter is co-founder Ascension Atlanta a well known monthly Goth night hosted at the legendary The Masquerade. He also regularly plays RITUAL and has also DJ'd Atlanta’s annual VAMPIRE BALL, hosted by the legendary Ritual Oni herself — making him particularly well suited for his upcoming journey to Savannah. Through it all, his approach remains rooted in reading the room and giving the dance floor what it needs rather than simply arriving with a predetermined playlist.
For Lechter, everything ultimately comes back to the dance floor. What keeps him behind the decks is the energy of watching a room full of people lose themselves in the music and, for a few hours, forget everything happening outside of it. He once described that communal experience as almost like church: “Every month, we open the chapel.” On October 24, DJ Lechter brings that philosophy and nearly three decades of Goth, Industrial and EBM experience for his first appearance to Markster Con's annual Savannah VAMPIRE BALL at Debellation Brewing Company.
