Karasu
The Story of Karasu and the Blood of Koloth
3.8 billion years ago, the earth was a dry, desolate wasteland riddled with volcanoes. A mountainscape of scorched rock and rivers of lava, with no plant or animal life to speak of besides the fierce dragons that roamed the land, feeding off each other in a fiery frenzy.
Karasu, one of the oldest living dragons, set out to put an end to this chaos. His goal was to find the Chalice of Samsara, filled with the cursed blood of Koloth, the firstborn dragon. It alone held the power to oppose the chaos by bringing balance to the world. After thousands of years of searching, Karasu found the chalice. With nowhere safe to keep it, he took to the sky, flying higher and higher, chased by every dragon on earth, each consumed by hunger for the power the chalice held. As the air grew thinner and temperatures dropped, the others fell away one by one. Only Karasu continued his ascent.
Finally, when no other dragon could reach him, he poured the blood of Koloth over the earth, filling every river and ocean bed, providing the world with the building blocks for all life as we know it. However as the blood gives life to all things, the curse ensures that all life born from the chalice must one day return to it, only to be poured out again.
